Spring is here- Oh My… With all the blossoms and the speedy growing season I hope everyone enjoying this wonderful weather. While we are completing our early planting cycle we are also preparing for our Fourth Annual Spring Cookout. This event which will be held on May 19 with the rain date on May 20 will be by invitation only! We will notify you with a direct email as we get closer.
Birthday Wishes- On behalf of all of us at Aliabaad Farm I want to formally wish Mr. Abbass Malayeri Happy 90th birthday. He is inspirational, energizing, and a loving person.
I also would like to thank him for his continues support and wonderful five fruit tree gifts that we received and plant them on March 20.
Aliabaad Farm was awarded-
It is such a wonderful feeling to be awarded with a High Tunnel (Green House) by State Of Maryland. We hope the new heated Green House (high Tunnel) will give us an opportunity to offer certain produce (winter greens) around the year. Many thank to Natural Resource Conservation Services.
Vegetables are on fast tracks While starters are still in the greenhouse they are growing healthy. On Tuesday March 20, we laid the plastics in the Hugh Tunnel and began our field activities planting red and Golden Cadillac Potatoes. Today on March 23, 2012 we are starting our massive field planting with our famous Purple Potatoes then red, white, yellow, and sweet onions, beats, Chives, Dill, green Beans, lettuce, Parsley, spinach, and Savory. We will continue our massive transplant during the week of March 26.
Feathers report- We have 3 new additions to our feathers crows. A female turkey and 2 new wiled Guineas. These new additions will be allowed to wonder around the farm. Perhaps the turkey will find a gobbler on hills side, and Guineas will have fertilized egg. Guineas are watch dogs they too will be running around.
CSA/CO-OPs Membership- We are currently accepting application for 2012 CSA/CO-OPs program. Our discount will end by April first! If you are planning to take part in our CSA program you may want to register by April 1 and take advantage of our 5% discount and complimentary free range eggs. Much like last year, our CSA program will start in May for 22 to 24 weeks (weather permitting + 2 bounce week). Our objective is to spoil all of our customer starting with the CSA members with 45 different farm fresh products.
Our weekly Shares are sized for a family of four and you won’t stop enjoying the taste of freshness.
Our CSA members will receive a weekly email outlining available produce for harvesting. CSA members will have unlimited choice of selection from the weekly harvest list (one share and as many items as available).
